We live in times of unprecedented musealisation of the world. It is one of the most global and, at the same time, individual phenomena of the beginning of the 21st century. Museums are being established on all continents, their activities encompass everything that was created in the universe, what was created by Earth's nature and invented by man. The concept of the ‘museum’, which had historical connotations until the end of the 20th century, has been transformed over the last decade and increasingly means a place of lifelong education and social and ideological reflection. One may sometimes get the impression that this third wave of museumisation is a reaction to the changes in the forms of communication between people observed over the last two decades. Such common and quick processes never occur without losses and damages. Hence the title of this book – ‘The Museum: Phenomena and Problems’.
